CONTROL
James 3:2
"We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check."
This verse says that by controlling the tongue, we are able to control the desires and impulses of the entire body.
Have you ever ridden a horse? I tried and let me tell you, it wasn't a pretty site. I have actually been bucked off by a pony. All you macho guys out there stop laughing. But when you think about horse back riding, what makes the horse want to go wherever you tell it to go? That's right the bridle. Without that in the mouth, the horse is going to go wherever it wants to go. The bridle makes the horse obedient.
You live in a body that has fleshly desires and wants to commit stupid sins. The way you will be able to control those desires is by speaking the right words. If you talk about sex all the time, guess what you're going to do really soon or be tempted to do really soon?
Your words will guide and direct your life, so weigh each one carefully and let the Word of God be a regular part of your vocabulary.
So my challenge for you this week is to begin to speak positive things about yourself and others. Encourage others with your words, and speak God's words over your life and others lives.
Until next time
